Glorifying Christ In Discipleship

Discipleship Groups are offered Sunday mornings at the church and in homes and the church during the week..

Discipleship is the core foundation of all ministries at FBC. Our philosophy of discipleship groups is to build up and train believers, build relationships together, multiply groups and disciples, and produce disciples who make disciples.

As believers gather together in the Word of God, they develop strong Christ-centered relationships that spur one another on towards “love and good deeds”.  Discipleship groups are a prime place where we learn to serve the body and reach out to the lost together. Our groups are encouraged to sponsor various churchwide outreach events such as Community Fun Day, VBS. outreach at Bettendorf’s July 4th event, Fall Fest, and other opportunities.

In addition to our regularly meeting groups we offer 4 “supplementals.” These are designed to assist new and growing disciples by focusing on 4 areas of growth. 1) Life Through God’s Eyes, focuses on living life from a Biblical Worldview. 2) Life on Purpose, focuses on living life on mission with God by helping people discover who God made them to be and take personal responsibility for the Great Commission. 3) Life in the Word, focuses on how to study and  live life by the Word of God through good hermeneutics. 4) Life Together, focuses on how to lead others in a group and be an impactful member of a discipleship group.

The importance of discipleship is explained in Paul’s letter to Timothy in 2 Timothy 3:14-17

But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

purposes of God for their lives. Through practical teaching on  Sundays at 9:00 am, we challenge them to turn their hearts toward God and His Son, Jesus Christ.  On Wednesdays during Youth Discipleship Group at 5 pm, we train them to use God’s Word to guide in each step of the amazing journey He has for us all.
